Aorere College is a co-educational state secondary school (years 9-13) that was established in 1964 in Papatoetoe, Manukau, Auckland, New Zealand. Patrick Drumm is the principal of the college. As of 2010 there were approx 1,550 students enrolled.
Due to the rapid increase in student population over the past couple of years the school has had to construct new buildings to accommodate all the students attending Aorere.
The new "Colin Pascoe Gymnasium" was officially opened on Thursday 1st April 2010 by The Minister of Education Anne Tolley. In attendance were formal principals of the school and community leaders. It is situated directly opposite the current "Charles Herbert Gymnasium". There is approximately a 40-year gap between the construction of both gyms. A dance studio will be added to the new gym, this is due to the rapid growth in the number of students wanting to partake in dance at the school.
The school has continued to undergo renovations which enhances not only student achievement but community involvement. Term Two 2010 saw Aorere start its very first radio station. Students and staff enjoy this whole-heartedly.
The school has invested $1.4 million into a new building project. Construction on the new library will commence later in 2010. It will be situated where the old library was based with seven state-of-the-art classrooms surrounding. This project is expected to be completed in mid-2011.
With the growing of our school's Dance & Drama department, a dance studio is being constructed directly beside the new Colin Pascoe Gymnasium. The completion date for this project is yet to be confirmed.
